The Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is 12.5 kms off N2, in Plettenberg Bay along the Garden Route in the Western Cape of South Africa. The game reserve caters for day visitors and also has accommodation in their colonial safari “Baroness” lodge offering a full service Bed & Breakfast, Half-boarding option (dinner, bed & breakfast) and self catering for both small and larger families. The main lodge has old-world charm, an old stone building with large bedrooms, big verandas and a country-casual vibe.
The game drives are 2 hours long and one can also do a horse back safari if you are interested in a more close to nature experience (you must be 13 years of age or older). The game drives are experienced in a land rover with an experienced guide.
The game viewing is excellent and the chances of seeing lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, hippo and elephant are excellent. There are also the buck species such as impala, red hartebeest. springbok, Nyala, giraffe, zebra and much more.
From the moment we drove through the gate this place felt right. The lodges were just incredible, the setting was idyllic, with our 3 course dinner served in area right next to a lake which was gorgeous. The food was excellent and the price of extra drinks was so inexpensive. We followed a lovely nights sleep by a big breakfast and made our way to the safari drive. We were lucky that just the 2 of us were in the safari truck so it was very personal. The drive was not rushed and our guide was very informative. All in all just fabulous. Tim Wilkins, England
